Just to clarify my previous message.

(Probably this message had to be posted first :)

Hi Xypron, Hi Luiz,

First of all let me to thank you for your efforts concerning glpk.

Based on frequent questions posted to the help-glpk list I think it
would be reasonable to merge all our developments for MS Windows into
a single package. This would allow to facilitate installing and using
glpk by beginners, in particular, by undergraduate students who do not
have enough skills to build and install Glpk+Winglpk+Gusek by
themselves on Windows machine. This also would allow us to maintain our
developments more efficiently. Below I outline my idea and would like
to know your opinion about it.

My idea is the following:

1. There are hosted two distributions:

   source code distribution glpk_X_Y_src.zip (since it is required by
   the GNU GPL and since we need to have it in sync), and

   binary distribution glpk_X_Y.msi (or converted to .exe) suitable for
   one-touch installation.

2. The source code distribution includes:

   glpk-X.Y.tar.gz (official glpk tarball);

   zlib-X.Y.tar.gz (official zlib tarball);

   scite203.tgz (original Scintilla and SciTE source code downloaded
   from Neil Hodgson's site; I hope his personal license is compatible
   with the GNU GPL, however, will consult GNU mentors);

   WinGlpk source code archive (does not include source code from glpk
   tarball and binaries);

   Gusek source code archive (does not include binaries);

   Scripts and necessary stuff to automatically patch the source code,
   compile all the components, and build the binary glpk distribution
   in the form of .msi database. (Of course, this requires some tools
   as MS Visual Studio and WIX to be installed.)

3. The binary distribution includes all necessary components (except
   the source code) to be installed in "Program Files/GLPK".

If you find my idea reasonable, please inform me. I am ready to discuss
any further details.

Best regards,

Andrew Makhorin
