ok that touched on another h-client issue - the client code has
a "TODO:" comment in it about that - the client makes no attempt
to detect the SANE or CUP drivers; but it was noted as being
desirable to do so - if that were done, it would suggest, just
as with kernel modules, that the distro is not the essential
factor

on those cases, the driver is the essential factor - the drivers
are distributed incidentally, by some distros and not others
- but if it can be detected by a deterministic name and the
known-libre drivers are white-listed, then sd with kernel
modules, the distro name would be purely informative, not
essential information
