That is not even the example init script that is shipped with gpsd.

Yes of course, you can start stuff with two lines of init and just wait
until your system kills it on shutdown. But hey, you can have the same
with systemd, if you  want it with two lines.

But well, you can actually shoot yourself in both feed with a single bullet.
