Are you insinuating that one shouldn't fix the current mess as best one can 
until we hear the last word in "the character encoding problem"?
(Perhaps we shouldn't try to stop murders either, since, after all, people 
will still find ways to kill other people?)

I mean, c'mon! The unicode guys have thought about these problems *A LOT* 
and figured out *A LOT*. Not everything is perfect, nor is everything 
final. Still, I haven't seen any better alternatives.
