Sorry, that doesn't work.
Apparently sftp is broken, and sets the protocol based on the
_absence_ of the -1 option. (It's documented to pay attention to the
config files, but clearly doesn't.)
Nor does it help if you configure the remote sshd to use Protocol 1
only. sftp is apparently just hardwired to use Protocol 2 if you give
it any choice about it.
