No, you got that wrong. Go download the free MS Visual C++ and Platform 
SDK (money spent so far: $0). Then you should be set for compile/debug.

Actually that's the setup behind nightly builds. At office I have the 
commercial MSVS 2005 and only difference on my view is the missing 
(partial) Platform SDK and setup builder.
