Re names: MJR is my .signature, the same as my normal signature. My
username is not my fault and I don't go calling friends from UEA x9728409.
I just really dislike "Mark J Ray" and forms like that. With a common name,
it is difficult to keep your name easy to find, and I've changed publishers
over it before now. Many apologies for fluffing Richard's name, but at
least I knew I was wrong and it was only an email. ;-)

The Association For Free Software is pleased to announce its formation
on 21 February at a GNU/Linux event in Sheffield hosted by Business
Link South Yorkshire. Free Software gives the user the freedom to run,
study, modify, redistribute, improve and release it to the public.
These freedoms protect users from being tied to one vendor and have
lead to the growing popularity with businesses of the GNU/Linux system.

I believe someone mentioned a GNU-Day at one point, too.

Maybe a good idea. What goes there? It might be mostly links to material
also available to others.

3. Free Software is advocated across Europe by the Free Software
Foundation Europe. For a fuller definition of Free Software, please see
their web site at http://www.fsfeurope.org/ Free Software is already
used extensively on the Internet, including the Apache web servers,
Samba file servers and many email servers.

However, are there more good GPL projects which should be mentioned,
especially anything common for desktop users?
