I've done this for pfaedit (extracting resource forks from 
binhex/macbinary/dfont files and then extracting NFNT/sfnt/postscript 
resources from the resource fork). It's not really that hard. On the other 
hand I'd think that most freetype users who want to do this will be willing 
to run their mac fonts through a translation program before installing them.
   fondu.sf.net will do this, there are probably other translators out 
there as well.
   Might be better to put this into kfontinst and similar tools than freetype.
