For now, I'd prefer to output LaTeX markup that looks familiar to
those that are used to LaTeX quickstart guides.  Commands like that
might confuse them.

This does sound interesting, though.  If you are willing to submit
some source code for this, I'll take the concept into consideration,
perhaps as a separate "latex-muse-syntax" (or similarly-named)
publishing style.  Or if the concept seems like the Right Thing,
replace the "latex" publishing style with your version.
