  I understand why you use temporary buffer.  But if you want
temporary buffers, don't make them not temporary.  If you don't
want to "accidentally overwrite the unmarked-up copy", don't make
the buffer visiting it.

  Actually, I can't figure out what means a temporary buffer
visiting a file.

  So what I don't understand is why you use the VISIT parameter
of 'insert-file-contents'.
