What does C-g mean? Why the sequence C-g specifically? I think the disconnect 
may be that C-g appears outwardly meaningless.

For contrast, <escape> clearly means to retreat and is often used in other 
applications to cancel (e.g. vi).  C-h is related to help via the 'h', which 
makes it easy to learn/remember. 

So why 'g'?
