Hello Ali:

If so, you will have to synchronize the two daughterboards in the X310, and modify gr-doa so as it would take only two rx channels (instead of four). I do not remember exact steps to do that.

Please consider asking the question to the main mailing list or to USRP-users. In that way, other people will be able to chime in and provide better answers.

Dear Kyeong,

Thank you for your reply.

I would like to clarify it. I want to use one X310 similar to the DOA example https://kb.ettus.com/Direction_Finding_with_the_USRP%E2%84%A2_X-Series_and_TwinRX%E2%84%A2. However our X310 includes two SBX daughterboards instead of TwinRX.

How would I do the below steps with one X310 usrp like in my case?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
Ali

Hello Ali:

You will have to 1. sync their clocks, and then 2. compensate their phase offsets. You will need to have some kind of a clock source (can be pretty expensive).

You will also have to modify gr-doa, so as it would take multiple USRPs as input sources.

Dear Kyeong,

Thank you very much for your response.

KrakenSDR looks interesting. Unfortunatly it isn't an option now. Could you please provide me with more information/materials about the modifications required for using X310-SBX?

Kind regards,
Ali

Hello Ali:

B210 does have suitable frontends, but you will only get 2 channels (instead of 4), and you will have to make some modifications to the software.

Other boards are also usuable, but you will have to synchronize them (using something like an Octoclock) and compensate their phase offsets manually (by using something like a noise generator). And again, you may have to make some modifications to the gr-doa software.

A cheaper (non-USRP) alternative to this is KrakenSDR ( https://www.crowdsupply.com/krakenrf/krakensdr ). You may want to stick with USRPs for academic purposes, though, if you can afford (as KrakenSDR is still at its infancy).

제목: DOA - gr-doa

Dear all,

I need to do the angle of arrival by using USRP (gr-doa) and I know that this example requires X310-TwinRX. Unfortunately, I only have X310-SBX, B210 and N210-CBX. Would be possible to use any of these USRPs instead?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

Kind regards,
Ali
