Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Windows Build (Johansen site)

A Windows installed GNUBg has the .gtkrc file in the installed directory.
(default: C:\Program Files\gnubg)
That .gtkrc has no influence whatever on other GTK based programs? Does it?
I would think GTK looks for the .gtkrc in the Windows or System or root
directory?
Thus making the .gtkrc in the GNUBg folder somewhat 'indepently'.
Meaning:
GTK based programs look for that 'system' gtkrc, GNUBg looks (first) for its
'own' gtkrc in its 'own' folder.
(and if so, a user using GTK based programs will have to delete the original
gtkrc that goes with the install)

But, if changing the gtkrc in GNUBg also influences other GTK programs
running on that Win32 machine... I see your point.

*NIX builds (from Snapshot or CVS)

I don't know if a .gtkrc file in the GNUBg dir changes the look of the GTK
board.
I think *NIX users have to (or can, or are priviliged to) change the
'global' GTK settings, yes?

My point (It would be nice to be able to 'pick a theme')

A backgammon player changes the colors of the board, border, chequers, dice
.....
and (at least for me that is) he/she also would see likely colors in the
GNUBg Window containing that board.
If not possible (or desired) by *NIX users, I think Win32 users would like
to see it 'implemented'.
Although: I do it 'by hand', and I'm not complaining. I just was thinking of
the 'novice' - 'beginner' - 'rookie' - 'student' level of Win32 users,
detesting (or scared to dead with?) everything that can't be done with the
mouse.
