I think, that the avr_chip_erase() should go in, because it makes 
cycle count available on all programmers (i.e avr910 and butterfly).

However, I don't see a problem there. I will apply the patch as soon 
as someone verifies that I haven't screwed things up for STK500 and 
PPI.
