A real quick guess is that you are running windows and the editor you 
are using does not recognize the unix end-of-line (which is just a 
line-feed char), but expects a carriage-return/line-feed (2 
characters).

After you decompress the list, open the file with windows "Wordpad" 
which recognizes the line-feed-only end of line.
If you see the last character now, then you got it.
My recomendation is to add a character/then remove the character so that 
wordpad flags this file as edited, which means the characteristics of 
this text file are going to change.
So, at this point, select-all the text, and paste it into your preferred 
text editor, then save it with your preferred text editor (which saves 
it with the carriage-return/linefeed expected.
