If you got the windows wastesedge.zip, you should delete all the .pyc
files (unless you are using Python 2.2).

You should also configure with --enable-py-debug and recompile after a
'make clean'. That could give a further clue what the error might be.
Did that... no additional errors during runtime. However, when doing the make install, I noticed the prefix seemed to be a bit... whoozy.. example:

/usr/bin/install -c -m 644 ./search_chest.pyc ./share/adonthell/games/wastesedge/scripts/game_events/search_chest.pyc

And in case you are running in 32bpp mode, you should edit your
$HOME/.adonthell/adonthellrc and turn Double-size mode off. Or switch
your screen to 16 or 24 bpp mode.
