If you got the windows wastesedge.zip, you should delete all the .pyc files (unless you are using Python 2.2).

Did that... no additional errors during runtime. However, when doing the make install, I noticed the prefix seemed to be a bit... whoozy.. example:You should also configure with --enable-py-debug and recompile after a 'make clean'. That could give a further clue what the error might be.
/usr/bin/install -c -m 644 ./search_chest.pyc ./share/adonthell/games/wastesedge/scripts/game_events/search_chest.pyc
And in case you are running in 32bpp mode, you should edit your $HOME/.adonthell/adonthellrc and turn Double-size mode off. Or switch your screen to 16 or 24 bpp mode.
