Hi David,

2 - Subscribing to cvs pages
In short, they are telling to contact <address@hidden> about
adding a 'log_accum' in the global CVSROOT.
It seems to be very complicated.

All in all, i suggest that those email notifications are sent to
public mailing lists so we can add recipients without having to bother
(and wait after) the Savannah staff.

I suggest that all CVS notifications be sent to
address@hidden (which I can create as a part of the 'texmacs'
project on Savannah).

Also I am a bit annoyed about creating the CVS notification mailing
list in 'texmacs' which the actual CVS is on the 'texmacs-doc'
project...
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. Too many option here for me.

What I think is:

1 - Users need to be notified when major changes occur in doc, so that they can update their local doc if they wish. This, for me, can be done by the translator with a unique email to address@hidden (no need to bother with cvs stuff here).

2- Translators need to be notified each time a change occurs in the doc as minor as it could be or that's my wish, so that the synchronization be kind of in real-time (far much easier to maintain in my opinion and experience). That's where cvs could play a major role.

I don't understand if the procedure explained in "Getting email from cvs"

<https://savannah.gnu.org/docs/admin.php#Getting%20email%20from%20CVS>

is to be made each time I commit or only once and thereafter all changes are automatically notified by email (be them from me or from any other member of the texmacs-doc project).

If it's to be made only once, good, that's what I call "automatic". If not, I fear that the system will not be used at all, because it implies a second action each time a file is committed, not what I call "automatic".

Basically I rarely need notification of my own work, but I need notification of others' :-) So, to put it briefly, if the cvs notification is "automatic", put it in action and tell me exactly what to do. If not I only have to pray that others notify me of any change in any way :-).

I agree with you that the right place to send cvs notifications would be at address@hidden (if you create the list). It would be a whole mess if it were merged with the software project (bothering both the developers and the translators).
