Yes, the semantic web, linked data, are all standard and reviewed, and largely 
tested.

There remains a lot of work to be done, getting many of the more practical 
issues 
sorted out for the particular domain under consideration. Such as friend pinging
mechanism, specialised vocabs, etc.... But those will only appear in the doing 
of it.

Anyway, who am I telling that to  :-)
