The patch looks mostly reasonable. I've filed it on Savannah:

However, it doesn't look like the diffs you've given are valid (the
pty.c one is missing line number information from the first chunk, at
least); and since they're not contextual, they'd have to be applied to
exactly the same sources (and you didn't mention which version the patch
was against).

It'd be very helpful if you could supply a complete contextual diff,
based on the current development sources, and attach it for the
above-linked report. (Or, generate it directly with git-format-patch for
bonus points! :) )
