[RP] problem + work around for installation on Mac OS X

Just writing to say that trying to build a fresh download from git reproduces
this bug from 2008.

My work-around was just to delete the Xft-related bits of the config file
that surrounded the problematic line of code.  Sorry not to come up with
anything more clever than that, but very glad to have RP up and running
per usual :)
