We are using A/R and services, but just starting up. We are using them in a
German setting, so we're still wrestling with translation problems.

We initially looked at SQL Ledger and I have to say it's a pretty good
product. On the other hand I don't want to add Perl to the mix we already
have and we would like to have the possibility of customizing the code if
need be, so PHP is a good thing.
Having the permissions infrastructure and OOP stuff that phpgw brings to the
party has made it easy to build on a foundation that's already solid.

CK-Ledger has come very very far in a short time. It still needs a lot of UI
work to make it handle a bit easily, but the functionality is quite there.
With the new HR module (which I havn't looked at yet) this should be a
fairly complete accounting package for SME.

Also, I can say from experience that CK Wu is very responsive to enhancement
requests. That in itself is worth it's weight in truffles (or gold, if you
prefer).

Is it mature enough? Well, it was in alpha until about 3 months ago, if I
recall correctly. In my view an accounting program has to be able to post
and balance. Yes, it does that and it doesn't break. Everything else is UI
or nice to have. As long as the functionality is there I'll tweak the
templates to make it look the way I want. That said CK-Ledger still needs
user feedback to iron out the little things that make a user's life a bit
more comfortable.

If you know phpgw the setup is actually quite simple. If not the
installation instructions posted on sourceforge are quite good, better than
most. But if "mature" means installing out of the box this morning and
having your accountant posting after lunch, well, soon but not quite yet.

I'm a big fan of this app. It's a nice piece of work. I'd be very happy if
more people used it.

Marc

Hi,

Is anyone using this for real yet? Is it mature enough yet? We are using
Quickbooks now and hate it. I have been looking at SQL-Ledger but having
accounting
in the same interface as phpGroupware might be better.

Thanks
