Yeah, but it aint going to come from me -- I can't even run the complied
version on this ancient machine, let alone compile and run it myself in
order to fix things.

No reason to duck, there's a good deal of truth in that -- but there's also
truth in the reverse, users and developers often have differing ideas as to
what should be done, and developers (if they want any users) have to
compromise sometimes.
