I have never heard of this happening.  Are there any other anecdotal
experiences that point to a serious problem like this in the OSS driver?
If so, I agree that it should be labeled with a warning.

The project itself may be dead as far as mainline development goes, but
people still post patches there and the forums are the best place for
aureal tech support under linux.  I think an update of the
aureal.sf.net homepage would be a good idea though with a pointer to
savannah.

I don't think it's quite ready for slashdotting yet.  Few more weeks of
hacking at least to iron out the obvious bugs, then get testers to
uncover the not so obvious ones.  anyone interested in actual
coding is most likely already here.
