On my FreeBSD account, it compiles to just over 900000, strips to 850000
plus or minus a bit. Then I GZEXE it to just over 350K. Very convenient.
Lynx always GZEXE's down to around 55-56% of its original size. ircII
shrinks down to about an eighth of its normal size.
I don't know why the Irix version is so huge, but if you can, see if you
can get GZEXE on your system (if it isn't there already), and apply it to
all your binary executables...and watch your free space increase
dramatically! If you get 55% like I do, you'll have a 0.847 M executable.
Not too bad...
Good luck!
