We currently recommend VirtualBox Open Source Edition for lilypond
contributors. However, the download page (no longer?) has binaries
available for the open-source edition:
http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
Has it always been this way?
No.
Do our windows contributors just use the
non-open source edition of virtualbox?
I guess I do then (and also for my Mac). Is that a bad thing?
Is there another webpage that
supplies compiled versions of the open-source edition? (is this
something that changed after Oracle bought Sun?)
I don't know and yes it is something that changed after Oracle bought
Sun, because I definitely do not remember a PEUL license. Once I
installed the GPL version it just then prompted me to update and update
and update. I guess I just didn't notice the change of the license and
did what any avergae user does and just clicks through the EULA.
