Actually, I also find:

so is Debian planning to ditch BEAST altogether, too?

I see the same for TeXmacs: depends on guile-1.8-dev.  And on
<URL:http://www.texmacs.org/tmweb/download/sources.en.html> I read
"Please note that as of Oct. 2013, Guile 2.x is not supported; you will
need Guile 1.8."

Is all that going to get removed?  I thought TeXmacs had a reasonably
large user base, too.
