This looks interesting, but the web page says timing accuracy is only
30 microseconds. That's pretty bad for a GPS module with PPS. Could
that be a typo?

I think you're right.

There's a data sheet here, which doesn't help, unfortunately!

Looking briefly at one on the 'scope suggests +/- 150 ns worst case, which I agree isn't great, but a lot better than the Banggood specification, more in line with what would be expected from a ublox module, and jolly good for a $9 unit!
