I'm guessing you need to specify the password right in the URL, a la

        ftp://user:address@hidden/...

because while SFTP uses SSH (which prompts for a password), plain FTP
is implemented internally, and arch doesn't prompt for passwords (with
either FTP or WebDAV).

FTP and SFTP really have nothing to do with each other except that
they transfer files.
