HI,
gnokii is truly a great app, but recently I find that I have to start using
smsd with MySQL

My base information is as follows:-

gnokii version 0.4.2a
MySQL version 3.21.41 RPM for RedHat
RedHat Version 7.2

Config command =    ./configure --enable-debug --without-x --enable-security
--mandir=/usr/share/man

/etc/gnokiirc contents =

[global]
port = /dev/ttyS0
model = 6210
initlength = default
connection = dlr3p
bindir = /usr/local/sbin/
use_locking = yes
require_dcd = 1

[connect_script]
TELEPHONE = 12345678
[disconnect_script]
[sms]
timeout = 10

OK, so now my problem. When I start smsd, I use the following command :-

[prompt]# smsd -u sms -p _p45sW0rD_ -d sms -c localhost -m mysql -l
/usr/local/share/smsd

First the daemon doen't seem to drop to the background at all but nicely
provides me with the following output:-

As you can see the daemon seems to be monitoring the phone correctly but never
finds any new messages,
whether unread messages resident in the phone prior to startup or new ones
received during execution.
consequently all new mail is ignored by smsd.

Am I doing something wrong, [therefore inequably stupid] or is this a known bug.

After trawling the archives from gnokii-users someone I see that some-one my
have had a similar problem
in early June, but I cannot find a resolution to it. As far as I know smsd is
logging into MySQL ok but
the debug output doesn't say. is there a switch I can use to confirm this?

How do I tell smsd to monitor the mobile for incoming mail, it doesn't seem to
be doing so.

Thanks in advance

Fin.
