Great, thanks. I haven't done a quantitative analysis of how often
the exceptions happen, so it may be that I just coincidentally ran
into them a lot. (It was often enough that I never realized, until
now, that the above was the standard policy.)
Now that trunk open, I'll look at my outstanding changes.
