Neither. It was sent as 8 bit text. Here are the headers:

  Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed
  Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

I store email too, but still I say that only few are read more than
once. What summary navigation has to with it ? On other mail readers
the summary (index) is stored on a separate file altogether.
