I have already decided to switch to the new version of Rmail
that uses mbox format instead of Babyl format. It is waiting
for more testing and debugging. New MIME support needs to be
designed to work with mbox format.
Preserving mime messages in their original transferred format is the
only acceptable way to handle them. Machines now so fast that it
should not take any substantial time to decode base64 or quoted
printables, so we will do that when displaying a message.
So my decision is that Rmail will continue to store MIME
contents in its undecoded form. Please do not keep arguing
for other methods, because my mind is made up.
