Youŕ new gr_python.m4 file will need to be copied over to each gr modules.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing so far. If anybody find one
that works on Linux (w/ and w/o dynamic export, non standard install),
MacOSX, MinGW, Cygwin, *BSD, cross-compiling, etc. we would be very
happy.

I would recommand the "GNU Autoconf, Automake, and Libtool" book
found here http://sources.redhat.com/autobook/ . There's a paper
version I have, I like it. You have to know this book covers only
autoconf v2.13, which is a bit different than autoconf 2.50+ we're
using. Anyway, it's a good introduction. Other people on the list
may recommand better tutorial if they have.
I cannot access the wiki from WTH (is the server too suspicious
with hackers or maybe simply because of the reverse DNS?), but any
recommendation of auto-tools tutorial should find its way
in there: http://comsec.com/wiki?SuggestedReading
