jobs wc is

j=( $( jobs -p ) )
or ${ ..

i think its with ' kinds ' cooperative

greets

      -n        lists only processes that have changed status since the last
                notification
      -p        lists process IDs only
      -r        restrict output to running jobs
      -s        restrict output to stopped jobs
