I don't think it's so much harder to use than debbugs, isn't it? Via
Gmane you have a good search to find the bug you're interested in. Ok,
bug status (open, closed, needs info, etc) would be nice, plus a version
field.

That won't happen. AUCTeX is an official GNU free software project, and
Github and Bitbucket are proprietary services.

Sure, every bug is a bug too much. What I've meant to say was that we
don't get so many bug reports that a plain mailing list/newsgroup
becomes too confusing.
But as said: if someone volunteers to figure out how to get AUCTeX into
debbugs.gnu.org, please do so. It's probably not too hard.
