I'd suggest that diversity is good, but eventually we should focus our
meager resources, and choose an official SCM and GUI.

The reason for much of the diversity is that we're all exploring
different ways of doing things without knowing what is best.

But we can't explore forever.  Perhaps we could set some kind of
deadline, and all vote on e.g. an official SCM and repository location.
(of course what people do privately is their own business -- this would
be about what is presented on the website to outside non-developers)

A similar argument can be made for the GUI.
