To join gnu-ml-translation room:

If you open this link (https://matrix.to/#/#gnu-ml-translation:poddery.com) in a browser, you should see a riot.im link there and if you open that link and choose to 'open in/with' from your browser, you can see riot app in the list. Choose that.

If you're in the riot app, you can also click on the '+' floating button to join a room by id. The room is #gnu-ml-translation:poddery.com
