μια αναφορά που υποβλήθηκε σε εμάς
+από τη Δασκάλα Πρωτοβάθμιας Εκπαίδευσης 
του ECEN Debora Badilla Huento. Η

+<h3>Περί</h3>
+
+<p>Είμαστε ένα ιδιωτικό χριστιανικό 
σχολείο που προσφέρει εκπαίδευση από το
+προσχολικό, μέχρι και το δευτεροβάθμιο 
επίπεδο, σύμφωνα με τις εκπαιδευτικές
+προδιαγραφές του κράτους.</p>
+
+<p>Στην Αργεντινή, η κάθε επαρχία 
αναπτύσσει την δική της εκπαιδευτική
+πολιτική. Στην περίπτωση της επαρχίας του 
Neuquén, η διδασκαλία της
+επιστήμης των υπολογιστών στα σχολεία δεν 
είναι υποχρεωτική. Πράγματι, η
+επιστήμη των υπολογιστών είναι ένα 
πρόσθετο αντικείμενο του προγράμματος
+σπουδών.</p>
+
+<h3>Κίνητρα</h3>
+
+<p>Το σχολείο μας υποστηρίζει τα ιδεώδη της 
αλληλεγγύης, της τιμιότητας, της
+αριστείας στην εκπαίδευση, της υπακοής 
στους νόμους, της μόνιμης αναζήτησης
+της αλήθειας, της δικαιοσύνης και της 
αγάπης, σε όλες τις καθημερινές
+δραστηριότητες. Το να χρησιμοποιούμε και 
να διδάσκουμε ιδιόκτητο λογισμικό
+ήταν σε αντίθεση με αυτές τις αξίες. Οι διευ
θυντές των σχολείων και οι
+δάσκαλοι ένοιωθαν, επίσης, καταπιεσμένοι 
από τη διαχείριση των αδειών
+λογισμικού και από τους πολλούς 
περιορισμούς που οι όροι αυτών των αδειών
+επέβαλαν στο σχολείο.</p>
+
+<p>Κατά τη διάρκεια της διαδικασίας 
ελήφθησαν επίσης υπ' όψη η ποιότητα και οι
+μακροπρόθεσμοι στόχοι της εκπαίδευσης. 
Σύμφωνα με τη δική μας αντίληψη, η
+εκπαίδευση των μαθητών στη χρήση μιας συ
γκεκριμένης μάρκας λογισμικού, είναι
+κάτι που βρίσκεται πολύ μακριά από την 
αποστολή ενός σχολείου.</p>

+<h3>Πως το πετύχαμε</h3>
+
+<p>Η όλη διαδικασία διήρκεσε τέσσερα 
χρόνια: αρχίσαμε το 2006, με όλους τους
+σταθμούς εργασίας να χρησιμοποιούν 
ιδιόκτητο λογισμικό, και ολοκληρώσαμε το
+2010, με πλήρως ελεύθερα λειτουργικά συ
στήματα και προγράμματα σε όλους τους
+υπολογιστές του σχολείου, 
περιλαμβανομένων κι εκείνων στα 
διοικητικά γραφεία
+και στη βιβλιοθήκη.</p>
+
+<p>Το σχέδιο συνίστατο κυρίως από διάφορα 
μέτρα για την ευαισθητοποίηση σχετικά
+με τις φιλοσοφικές, ηθικές και 
κοινωνικο-πολιτικές συνέπειες της χρήσης 
της
+τεχνολογίας. Αυτή η θεμελιώδης άποψη συ
ντηρήθηκε και υπογραμμίστηκε κατά τη
+διάρκεια ολόκληρης της διαδικασίας και 
μπήκε στην πράξη με τη σταδιακή
+αντικατάσταση των υπαρχόντων ιδιόκτητων 
προγραμμάτων με προγράμματα
+Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού.</p>
+
+<p>Στη διάρκεια του πρώτου χρόνου, 
εισαγάγαμε μερικά θεωρητικά μαθήματα,
+συγκεκριμένα την "Ιστορία της επιστήμης 
των υπολογιστών" και την "Εισαγωγή
+στην αρχιτεκτονική των υπολογιστών".  
Καλύψαμε, επίσης, τις νομικές πλευρές
+του λογισμικού, όπως τους διάφορους τύπους 
αδειών, και μιλήσαμε για τη
+δέσμευση των χρηστών και των 
προγραμματιστών Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού προς 
την
+κοινότητα.</p>
+
+<p>Έγιναν εκπαιδευτικά μαθήματα στους 
δασκάλους δευτεροβάθμιου επιπέδου της
+πληροφορικής και όλων των άλλων 
ειδικοτήτων, στους δασκάλους πρωτοβάθμιου
+επιπέδου, στο Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο και το 
διοικητικό προσωπικό, και στον
+βιβλιοθηκάριο.</p>
+
+<p>Για την επίτευξη της μετάβασης, 
χρησιμοποιήθηκαν οι ακόλουθοι ανθρώπινοι
+πόροι: </p>
+
+<ul>
+  <li>1 δάσκαλος Πληροφορικής για το 
προσχολικό και το πρωτοβάθμιο επίπεδο. Ο
+δάσκαλος αυτός είναι, επίσης, υπεύθυνος 
για τη συντήρηση των υπολογιστών της
+τάξης και την εκπαίδευση των άλλων 
δασκάλων και του προσωπικού του σχολείου
+στη χρήση του λειτουργικού συστήματος.</li>
+  <li>5 δάσκαλοι Πληροφορικής για το δευ
τεροβάθμιο επίπεδο.</li>
+  <li>1 τεχνικός υπολογιστών και δικτύου, υ
πεύθυνος για την επισκευή των
+υπολογιστών του δευτεροβάθμιου επιπέδου
.</li>
+  <li>1 προγραμματιστής Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού 
που προσλήφθηκε για τη συγγραφή του
+Συστήματος Διοικητικής Διαχείρισης.</li>
+  <li>1 καθηγητής Τεχνολογιών Πληροφορίας 
και Επικοινωνίας που προσλήφθηκε για να
+εκπαιδεύσει το προσωπικό του σχολείου.</li>
+</ul>
+
+<p>Τα κόστη της μετάβασης ήταν προσιτά και 
σαφώς μέσα στα όρια του σχολικού
+προϋπολογισμού:</p>
+
+<ul>
+ <li>Επισκευές προσωπικών υπολογιστών: Το 
2006, το ECEN προσέλαβε έναν τεχνικό
+υπολογιστών, στον οποίο προσφέρθηκε 
τεκμηρίωση του Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού κι
+ένα DVD του λειτουργικού συστήματος υπό 
χρήση. Από τότε, το σχολείο
+συνεργάζεται με αυτόν.</li>
+ <li>Εκπαίδευση: 60 ώρες εκπαίδευσης για 
απόκτηση προσόντων από το προσωπικό του
+σχολείου.</li>
+</ul>

+<h3>Δέσμευση στο Ελεύθερο Λογισμικό</h3>
+
+<p>Από το 2010, χρησιμοποιούμε αποκλειστικά 
ελεύθερα λειτουργικά συστήματα, όχι
+σε διπλή εκκίνηση, όπως ακολουθεί:</p>

+ <li>22 προσωπικοί υπολογιστές στις 
προσχολικές και πρωτοβάθμιες αίθουσες
+(μαθητές 4-12 ετών)</li>
+ <li>24 προσωπικοί υπολογιστές στις δευ
τεροβάθμιες αίθουσες (μαθητές 13-17 ετών)</li>
+ <li>7 προσωπικοί υπολογιστές στα γραφεία 
διοίκησης</li>
+ <li>3 προσωπικοί υπολογιστές στη 
βιβλιοθήκη</li>
+ <li>1 φορητός υπολογιστής στην αίθουσα 
προβολής βίντεο</li>
+</ul>
+

+<h3>Αποτελέσματα</h3>
+
+<p>Βρήκαμε την εμπειρία μετάβασης πολύ 
θετική κι αποφασίσαμε να υιοθετήσουμε
+ένα περιβάλλον Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού για 
όλους τους σταθμούς εργασίας. Τον
+Οκτώβριο του 2009 το σχολείο ήταν χορηγός 
της Ημέρας Ελευθερίας Λογισμικού
+στην πόλη Άγιος Μαρτίνος των Άνδεων.</p>
+
+<p>Αν και χρειάστηκε αφιέρωση και επιμονή, η 
διαδικασία ήταν ευχάριστη.  Τώρα
+διαδίδουμε αυτά που μάθαμε, ούτως ώστε να 
βοηθήσουμε άλλες εκπαιδευτικές
+κοινότητες.</p>

+<p>Η διοικητική επικράτεια της Αργεντινής υ
ποδιαιρείται σε είκοσι τρεις
+πολιτικά αυτόνομες περιοχές, 
αποκαλούμενες ως επαρχίες. Αυτές οι 
επαρχίες

πολιτική, τηρώντας απλώς κάποιες

+<p>Οι παρακάτω πληροφορίες μας 
παραχωρήθηκαν από την ομάδα εθελοντών που
+εργάζονται στο Κέντρο.</p>

+<h3>Τοποθεσία</h3>
+
+<p>Το Κέντρο βρίσκεται στην περιοχή Sudharshan 
Layout, έξω από την οδό
+Bannerghatta, στην πόλη Bangalore, στην <a
+href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karnataka#Education";> Πολιτεία 
της
+Karnataka</a>, στην Ινδία.</p>
+
+<h3>Περί</h3>
+
+<p>Το <a href="http://slumdweller.wikispaces.com/Community+Computing+Center";>
+Κέντρο Πληροφορικής της  Κοινότητας 
Ambedkar</a> δεν είναι ένα ιδιωτικό ή
+δημόσιο εκπαιδευτικό ίδρυμα, είναι ένα 
κέντρο εκπαίδευσης πληροφορικής που
+το λειτουργούν νεολαίοι από μια τοπική 
ομάδα με όνομα Ambedkar Sanga, η
+οποία έχει δράση στις παραγκουπόλεις της 
περιοχής.</p>
+
+<p>Το Κέντρο ιδρύθηκε το 2007, σε μία 
προσπάθεια μεταφοράς του κόσμου των
+υπολογιστών κοντά στα μη προνομιούχα 
παιδιά και εφήβους που διαφορετικά θα
+είχαν πολύ μικρή δυνατότητα να έρθουν σ' 
επαφή με αυτή την τεχνολογία.</p>
+
+<p>Η ομάδα αποτελείται από περίπου 15 παιδιά 
και νεαρά αγόρια και κορίτσια από
+13 μέχρι 23 χρονών. Παρακολουθούν τάξεις 3 
φορές την εβδομάδα, για 2 ώρες σε
+κάθε συνεδρία.</p> 
+
+<h3>Κίνητρα</h3>
+
+<p>Η περιοχή στην οποία βρίσκεται το Κέντρο 
στερείται ακόμη και των πιο βασικών
+συνθηκών διαβίωσης. Πιστεύουμε ότι τα 
παιδιά από αυτό το μέρος θα πρέπει να
+αναπτύξουν και μια καλή δίψα για Ελευ
θερία, καθώς συγχρόνως θα μαθαίνουν
+πληροφορική, και το Ελεύθερο Λογισμικό εξυ
πηρετεί αυτό τον σκοπό. Το
+Ελεύθερο Λογισμικό είναι ένας τρόπος να 
μιλήσει κανείς για την Ελευθερία.</p>
+
+<h3>Πως το κάναμε</h3>
+

+<p>Δεν υπήρξε καμία διαδικασία μετάβασης. 
Είμαστε υποστηρικτές του Ελεύθερου
+Λογισμικού κι έτσι αρχίσαμε κατ' ευθείαν 
να εγκαθιστούμε Ελεύθερο Λογισμικό
+σε όλους τους υπολογιστές σε χρήση· συ
νεπώς, δεν αντιμετωπίσαμε καμία
+ιδιαίτερη δυσκολία στο στήσιμο των συ
στημάτων. Η κύρια δυσκολία μας αφορά
+την έλλειψη υλικού. Χρησιμοποιούμε μόνον 
φορητούς υπολογιστές και
+χρειαζόμαστε όσο το δυνατόν περισσότερους 
μπορούμε να έχουμε. Βασιζόμαστε σε
+δωρεές για το έργο μας.</p>
+
+<h3>Δέσμευση στο Ελεύθερο Λογισμικό</h3>
+
+<p>Έχουμε πέντε σταθμούς εργασίας, όπου 
όλοι τους είναι φορητοί υπολογιστές και
+όλοι τους τρέχουν πλήρως ελεύθερα λειτου
ργικά συστήματα.</p>
+
+<p>Όλα τα προγράμματα που χρησιμοποιούμε 
είναι Ελεύθερο Λογισμικό. Για
+παράδειγμα, χρησιμοποιούμε το <a
+href="http://www.libreoffice.org/";>LibreOffice</a> για λογιστικά 
φύλλα και
+για γενική συγγραφή εγγράφων, και το <a
+href="http://directory.fsf.org/wiki/GIMP";>GIMP</a> για 
επεξεργασία γραφικών.</p>
+
+<h3>Αποτελέσματα</h3>
+
+<p>Η πλοήγηση στον ιστό με τη χρήση 
Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού βοηθά αυτά τα νέα
+αγόρια και κορίτσια να έχουν πρόσβαση στο 
έξω κόσμο με ασφάλεια κι
+αυτοπεποίθηση. Τα ελεύθερα προγράμματα 
επεξεργασίας γραφικών όπως το GIMP
+τους επιτρέπουν να εκφράζουν ελεύθερα και 
εύκολα τη δημιουργικότητά τους.</p>
+
+<p><a href="/education/edu-software-gimp.html#Mani">Ένα από τα μη 
προνομιούχα
+παιδιά</a> που παρακολουθεί τις τάξεις στο 
Κέντρο, κατέκτησε ένα πολύ υψηλό
+επίπεδο ικανοτήτων στη χρήση του GIMP. Τα 
έργα του παρουσιάστηκαν και
+πουλήθηκαν σε μια τοπική διάσκεψη 
Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού. Η εικόνα στα δεξιά
+τον δείχνει να παραδίδει στον Richard Stallman ένα 
αντίγραφο του δοκιμίου με
+τίτλο &ldquo;Το μέλλον είναι δικό μας&rdquo;, το 
οποίο παράχθηκε στο Κέντρο.</p>

+<p>Μερικά από τα παιδιά που παρακολουθούν 
τις τάξεις μας, εγγράφονται και στα
+μαθήματα πληροφορικής στο σχολείο. 
Αναφέρουν ότι οι ικανότητες που απέκτησαν
+στο Κέντρο είναι μια ανεκτίμητη βοήθεια γι 
αυτά προκειμένου να μπορέσουν να
+παρακολουθήσουν και να περάσουν με επιτυ
χία κι εκείνα τα μαθήματα.</p>

+<h2>Escuela Cristiana Evangélica de Neuquén (ECEN)</h2>
+
+<p>The following information was extracted from a report submitted to us
+by ECEN Elementary Teacher Debora Badilla Huento. Her commitment played 
+a key role in raising Free Software awareness and ultimately getting 
+the school to migrate.</p>
+

+<h3>Location</h3>
+
+<p>City of Neuquén, capital of the 
+<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuquen_Province";>
+Province of Neuquén</a>, in the Argentine Patagonia Region.</p>
+
+<h3>About</h3>
+
+<p>We are a private Christian school providing education from 
+pre-elementary to high school levels in accord with state educational 
+requirements.</p>
+
+<p>In Argentina, each province develops its own educational policy. In 
+the case of the province of Neuquén, teaching computer science at 
+elementary schools is not obligatory. Actually, computer science is an 
+extracurricular subject.</p>
+
+<h3>Motivation</h3>
+
+<p>Our school advocates the ideals of solidarity, honesty, excellence in 
+education, the observance of law, the constant search for truth, justice 
+and love in all daily activities. Using and teaching proprietary 
+software was in contrast with these values. School directors and 
+teachers were also overwhelmed by software license management and by the 
+many restrictions that the terms of those licenses imposed on the 
+school.</p>
+
+<p>Educational quality and long term goals were also taken into account 
+during the decision process. It is our understanding that training 
+students on how to use a specific brand of software is far from the 
+mission of a school.</p>
+
+<h3>How We Did It</h3>
+
+<p>The whole process lasted four years: we started in 2006 with all our 
+work stations using proprietary software and concluded in 2010 with full 
+free operating systems and programs in all the school's computers, 
+including the administration offices and the library.</p>
+
+<p>The plan consisted mainly of several measures aimed at raising 
+awareness about the philosophical, ethical and socio-political 
+implications of the use of technology. This fundamental aspect was 
+maintained and underlined during the whole process and put into practice 
+by the gradual substitution of existing proprietary programs with Free 
+Libre Software programs.</p>
+
+<p>During the first year we introduced some theoretical courses, namely 
+"Computer Science History" and "Introduction to Computer Architecture". 
+We also covered the legal aspects of software such as the various types 
+of licenses, and we talked about the commitment of Free Software users 
+and developers to the community.</p>
+
+<p>Training courses were given to high school level teachers in the IT 
+and all other areas, to teachers of the elementary level, to the Board 
+of Directors and administration staff, and to the librarian.</p>
+
+<p>The following human resources were employed to carry out the 
+migration: </p>
+
+<ul>
+  <li>1 Computer Science teacher for the pre-elementary and elementary 
+  levels. This teacher is also in charge of maintaining the computers
+  in the classroom and qualifying other teachers and school staff in the 
+  use of the operating system.</li>
+  <li>5 Computer Science teachers for the high school Level.</li>
+  <li>1 PC and network technician in charge of repairing the computers 
+  of the high school level.</li>
+  <li>1 Free Software programmer hired to write the Administrative 
+  Management System.</li>
+  <li>1 IT Professor hired to qualify the school staff.</li>
+</ul>
+
+<p>Migration costs were affordable and well within the school's 
+budget:</p>
+
+<ul>
+ <li>PC Repairs: In 2006,  ECEN  hired a computer technician who was 
+ provided with Free Software documentation and a DVD of the operating 
+ system in use. The school has been working with him since then.</li>
+ <li>Training: 60 training hours to qualify the school staff.</li>
+</ul>
+
+<h3>Commitment to Free Software</h3>
+
+<p>As of 2010, we are using fully free operating systems, non in dual 
+boot, as follows:</p>
+
+<ul>
+ <li>22 PC  in the pre-elementary and primary classrooms (4-12 years 
+ old students)</li>
+ <li>24 PC in the high school classrooms (13-17 years old students)</li>
+ <li>7 PC in the administration offices</li>
+ <li>3 PC in the library</li>
+ <li>1 notebook in the video classroom</li>
+</ul>
+

+<h3>Results</h3>
+
+<p>We found the migration experience quite positive and we decided to 
+adopt a Free Software environment for all work stations. In October 2009 the 
+school sponsored the Software Freedom Day in the city of San Martín de 
+los Andes.</p>
+
+<p>Although it required dedication and perseverance, the process was pleasant. 
+Now we disseminate what we've learned in order to help other educational 
+communities.</p>

+
+<p>Argentina's administrative territory is divided into twenty three 
+political autonomous states called  provinces. These provinces develop 
+their own educational policy, attending just to certain basic guidelines 
+from the National Government. This allows educational institutions to

+<h2>Ambedkar Community Computing Center (AC3)</h2>
+
+<p>The following information was submitted to us by the group of volunteers 
+working at the Center.</p>

+
+<p>The Center is located in the Sudharshan Layout off Bannerghatta Road
+in Bangalore, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karnataka#Education";>
+State of Karnataka</a>, India.</p>
+
+<h3>About</h3>
+
+<p>The <a href="http://slumdweller.wikispaces.com/Community+Computing+Center";>
+Ambedkar Community Computing Center</a> is not a private or public 
+educational institution, it is a computing education center run by 
+youths from a local group called Ambedkar Sanga that works in the slums 
+of the area.</p>
+
+<p>The Center was founded in 2007 in an effort to bring the world of 
+computers close to underprivileged children and youths who otherwise 
+would have little opportunity to get in contact with this technology.</p>
+
+<p>The group consists of around 15 children and young boys and girls 
+from 13 to 23 years old. They attend classes 3 times a week for 2 hours 
+each session.</p> 
+
+<h3>Motivation</h3>
+
+<p>The area in which this Center is located lacks even the most basic 
+living conditions. We feel that the kids from this place should get a 
+good thirst for Freedom while learning computing too, and Free Software 
+serves this purpose. Free Software is a way to talk about Freedom.</p>
+
+<h3>How We Did It</h3>
+

+<p>No migration process was involved. We are Free Software advocates so 
+we started directly by installing Free Software in all computers in use; 
+therefore, we haven't  faced any particular difficulties in setting up 
+the systems. Our main difficulty regards the lack of hardware. We use 
+only laptops, and we need as many as we can get. We rely on donations 
+for our work.</p>
+
+<h3>Commitment to Free Software</h3>
+
+<p>We have five work stations, all of which are laptops and all of them 
+run fully free operating systems.</p>
+
+<p>All of the programs we use are Free Libre software. For example, we 
+use <a href="http://www.libreoffice.org/";>LibreOffice</a> for 
+spreadsheets and for general document writing, and 
+<a href="http://directory.fsf.org/wiki/GIMP";>GIMP</a> for graphics.</p>
+
+<h3>Results</h3>
+
+<p>Browsing the web using Free Software helps these young boys and girls 
+to have access to the external world in safety and confidence. Free 
+Libre graphic programs such as GIMP allow them to express their 
+creativity freely and easily.</p>
+
+<p><a href="/education/edu-software-gimp.html#Mani">One of the 
+underprivileged kids</a> who attends classes at the Center has achieved 
+a high level of skill in the use of GIMP. His works have been presented 
+and sold at a local Free Software conference. The picture on the right 
+shows him handing in to Richard Stallman a copy of an essay titled 
+&ldquo;The Future is Ours&rdquo;, which was produced at the Center.</p>
+
+<p>Some of the kids who attend our classes also take computing courses 
+at school. They report that the skills they learn at the Center are of 
+invaluable help for them to follow and pass those courses 
+successfully.</p>
