Yes!  Ideally, all graphs, analysis tools in Swarm could be
implemented using this.  A big problem (last time I checked, a few
months ago) was that the API for Java was too primitive, involving too
many conversions and/or R evaluations.  Another problem was that the
graphics support was barely working.
