Running Start/Programs/Swarm/terminal, I suggest you grab the current
DLLs and swarm.jar from:
ftp://ftp.swarm.org/pub/swarm/binaries/w32/2.1.1-fixes
say, like so:
cd /tmp
wget ftp://ftp.swarm.org/pub/swarm/binaries/w32/2.1.1-fixes/javaswarm.dll.gz
wget ftp://ftp.swarm.org/pub/swarm/binaries/w32/2.1.1-fixes/libkaffeswarm.dll.gz
wget ftp://ftp.swarm.org/pub/swarm/binaries/w32/2.1.1-fixes/swarm.jar.gz
wget ftp://ftp.swarm.org/pub/swarm/binaries/w32/2.1.1-fixes/kawa.jar.gz
wget ftp://ftp.swarm.org/pub/swarm/binaries/w32/2.1.1-fixes/swarm.dll.gz
Uncompress them:
gunzip javaswarm.dll.gz libkaffeswarm.dll.gz swarm.jar.gz kawa.jar.gz
swarm.dll.gz
And then copy them into place
cp javaswarm.dll libkaffeswarm.dll swarm.dll /Swarm-2.1.1/bin
cp swarm.jar kawa.jar /Swarm-2.1.1/share/swarm
Then retry your modification. Swarm 2.1.1 wasn't tested much
with Windows 2k, but since then I use it frequently with Swarm.
