Another approach, one that free software types might find less
objectionable (if you're not one of those then never mind), would be
to start with gnome-gcj (http://gnome-gcj.sourceforge.net). This
project is based on two technologies: GCJ, the GNU native code
compiler for Java (based on GCC), and GTK+ (http://www.gtk.org). GTK+
is widget set that the GNOME project uses (e.g. what you see on a
Redhat system), and that has been ported to Windows.
Programs compiled with GCJ have the property of being binary compatible
with GNU C++ compiled programs, and that provides a clean, efficient way
to integrate like GTK+.
The gcj-gnome approach also resonates with the new COM/Mozilla support in
Swarm since now there are C++ interfaces to Swarm.
Swing-based analysis widgets are fine, of course, but this is an
open-source alternative that doesn't tie you to Sun, will have better
performance, will work on Windows and Unix, and can still be used as a
plug-in in Mozilla.
