Dear Marcus.
In the Emacs groups, I hear there is no solution for this. Is it true?
On Unix, I can avoid the following problems by using ansi-term instead
of shell inside Emacs.
In Windows, there is no comparable solution.
Here is the problem:
I have color coded ls set in my environment. WHen I do ls in Emacs's
shell, I get ugly stuff like this:
[0mCalculator.o[0m [0mMakefile~[0m
[0mObserverSwarm.m[0m [0mcore[0m
[0mChangeLog[0m [0mMarket.h[0m
[0mObserverSwarm.o[0m [0mmain.m[0m
[0mCompetition.h[0m [0mMarket.m[0m
[0mParameters.h[0m [0mmain.o[0m
[0mCompetition.m[0m [0mMarket.o[0m
[0mParameters.m[0m
My prompt, which also has color coding, looks terrible in Emacs shell:
[m]0;<pauljohn>:
/tmp/benedikt/comp-current[0;32m([0;address@hidden;32m)-([0;36m06:19pm[0;32m
[0;36mThu Apr 20[0;32m)-([0;36mcomp-current[0;32m)[0;36m
[0;36m$ [0;37m
ansi-term solves this, but only in Unix. It does not exist in Windows
Emacs
Furthermore, I don't understand why the default Swarm setup does not
cause this problem in the shell too because it has color=auto.
