Dear Prof. Schmidt (and all other impatient complainers)

You are writing to a list (even though an unwanted one, as I assume),
not to a person - so to whom do you complain??
The list was initiated by Nigel Gilbert
(address@hidden), so all complaints should be
e-mailed to him, not to the whole list in general!!!
Nigel stated very clearly that the" join"-Messages should be send to
address@hidden I dont know why so many people are unable
to enter an email address into the "to"-field (instead of just
using the "reply"- function).
The more general problem seems to be that a lot of people get all
the messages from the SIMSOC-list although they did NOT JOIN the
list. My suspect is, that there is a permanent crossposting from
SIMSOC to the "european-sociologist" list (which is the only one I
did subscribe, for example). This must be a configuration problem,
and Nigel should quickly take care of it.
> If you are unable to handle email, you should not use it!
You are right - so why don't you complain to Nigel instead of the
whole list (before you ask - I do it intentionally)
BTW: it is a common agreement that a signature (especially in mails
to a mailing list) should not exceed 4 lines. Yours is 11 lines long
- if you imagine how many recipients get this, you might imagine the
unneccessary traffic on the net caused by long unnecessary
information alone....
