New list: SIMSOC - simulation in the social sciences

From: Nigel Gilbert
Subject: New list: SIMSOC - simulation in the social sciences
Date: Sun, 13 Apr 1997 17:29:23 +0100

A new email distribution list has been established for announcements, news
and discussion related to the use of computer simulation in the social
sciences, including approaches based on micro-simulation and multi-agent
modelling. To add yourself to this list, send a message to:

     address@hidden

containing as the body of the message the line:

    join SIMSOC Your-First-Name Your-Last-Name

An introduction (including help on how to leave the list if you should so
wish) will be returned to you.

The SIMSOC list is based on a list of the same name which was previously
maintained at the University of Surrey and which included all those
involved with the series of workshops on Simulating Societies (Guildford,
1992; Siena, 1994; Florida, 1995 and, forthcoming, Cortona, 1997). The new
list is open to everyone interested in the use of simulation for the study of
social phenomena.

In order to add yourself to the list, you _must_ subscribe as above; no one
is being transferred directly from the old list to the new.

The creation of this re-vitalised list is the first step in a series of
activities to promote the use of simulation in the social sciences which is
expected to be sponsored by the UK Economic and Social Research Council
during 1997/8. Look out soon for news of a web site featuring resources of
interest to those involved with social simulation.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS NOTICE TO OTHERS WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN
COMPUTER SIMULATION IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCES
