Since the i18n patch was included, ratpoison no longer starts with my
default locale, unless I modify the DEFAULT_FONT in src/conf.h.
The cause is that my system (Debian sarge) defines 9x15bold
in /etc/X11/fonts/misc/xfonts-base.alias as
-misc-fixed-bold-r-normal--15-140-75-75-c-90-iso8859-1
But my locale has set address@hidden, which is iso8859-15. Thus
there is no font in this list that is useable for that locale.
Thus I suggest to replace the DEFAULT_FONT with
-*-fixed-bold-r-normal-*-15-*-*-*-c-*-*-*
which should use a font better fitting for the current locale and the
current resultion.
Alternatively there could be a list first trying the old and then the
new value, like in font2.diff.
Hochachtungsvoll,
