Actually one needs to first update the version at the top of 
configure.ac. I missed that step, which caused me to both tag the wrong 
commit and upload a new package with the old name, which overwrote the 
original 0.48 package :(

I was able to fix the v0.50 tag (surprised git is so permissive) and I 
uploaded 0.48 package from a backup, unfortunately the savannah servers 
won't let me adjust the timestamp of remote files, so the 0.48 tarball 
now looks like it was released today rather than 2.5 years ago as is the 
case. Sorry about that. If anyone knows of a way to fix that, please let 
me know.

Oh well, I'll do better next time...
