Hello,

You can use bridgeutils or openvswitch for connecting vms. Another solution is using tuntap tunnels.

All,

I wish to simulate a situation where two machines are connected to each other directly using a network cable. I wish to have two VMs running and each one of them have one interface to be directly connected. How can I do this in QEMU/KVM environment? This is to set up a test situation where one of the VMs is a traffic generator and other will be the consumer. The MAC addresses of traffic will not mach that of the VM's ports. Both VMs need to be in promiscus mode. Is this possible in virtual environment?

thanks and regards,
Ravi
