I'm using MSN Messenger 4.6 on XP. It seems you did everything right.
You need to sign off and sign in again. Upon sign-in, it did send a
REGISTER to the proxy but can't respond with 401 response from proxy. So
I turn off authorization and the proxy crashes upon receving the
REGISTER. I will do some debugging...
