Hi Meier,

if your toolchain has been built for cortex-m4 and you do not have floating instructions, you only have to add this flag to your compiler "-mfloat-abi=hard".

I also found https://github.com/whitequark/stlink and I am about to try it. Sadly it only works on linux, it would be nice if it worked on Mac OS X too. ^^

I read that ST has freed the stlink API to some developers (I guess based on mass storage USB), so I believe it is only a matter of time to find it in openocd :P.  I will give stlink a try as it is affordable.
