All,
Just FYI but I got u-center working under Linux. I have Ubuntu 7.10 so I just
installed WINE (sudo apt-get install wine) then downloaded the u-center
installer.
I ran the .exe installer (choose open with "wine"). And it installed without an
issue. Even put a menu item under "Applications/wine/programs"
For the COM1 port do this:
cd ~/.wine/dosdevices/
ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 com1 <--assumes FTDI cable is seen as /dev/ttyUSB0
The above sets com1 for u-center to use.
Plug everything in like you would under that other OS and run u-center. Worked
great. Email me if you would like more explicit directions. Now you don't have
to buy|install an expensive OS just to setup the GPS.
